Do you think APM will catch up to AppDynamics or Dynatrace? Would love to hear your thoughts surrounding this.

In what ways do you specifically mean "catch up"? Gartner has AppDynamics only slightly ahead of IBM in its PeerInsights:

In my experience, all three of the products are great, and we've seen customers succeed and fail with all of them for various reasons.

In this part of the portfolio, you will find that every competitor has areas where they are strong and weak.   Within IBM, we are increasing our investment on our APM solution.  You may find that AppDynamics does a better job with a specific middleware domain while IBM does better with others.  For example, IBM has transaction tracking through the IBM middleware stack including DataPower and IIB.   I don't believe that AppDynamics can do that.  We have monitoring for API Connect environments.   So, it is a matter of understanding the business application and whether the right coverage is there.  In addition, you need to consider whether you need a supported solution.  With a lot of APM venders, you see that significant portions of their monitoring coverage is community contributed and unsupported.

Hi Birgit,   it would be great to get more detail from you on what you are seeing and hearing.   While it is the case that each vendor in the APM market will have its strengths,  one of IBM's key strengths is that  IBM APM provides value to clients in multiple usage scenarios - from being tightly integrated into an overall Service Management solution covering a wide range of platforms, including cloud native,  to providing management for DevOps teams building and supporting critical applications.
