IBM Instana Observability Self-Hosted 1.0.231 - Now Available

IBM Instana Observability Self-Hosted releases a new version – version  1.0.231 – today, August 30, 2022.

This latest release delivers enhancements and additional coverage from what was delivered with version 1.0.229. In this release, you can directly use Instana packages for installation and deployment.  For detailed instructions, see the Instructions.pdf file, which you can download from Passport Advantage. 

Main features now available to IBM clients in the new release:

Tracing suppression for .NET Core processes running on the Linux
  • You can suppress the instrumentation for classes or namespaces by setting configuration. 
Azure Functions .NET support
  • Instana now supports Azure Functions for .NET.  All related metrics and spans for Azure Functions are visible on the Infrastructure  page of the Instana user interface. 
JBoss Data Grid tracing (Technology Preview)
  • Instana now supports JBoss Data Grid tracing as a Technology Preview. In this Technology Preview, automatic tracing for HotRod Java client is provided, which is used to access JBoss Data Grid server.

Sensor improvements –

Go Sensor
  • Added support for the instrumentation of redigo library.
IBM ACE Sensor
  • Added flowNodes to the CHANGES_IGNORED_KEY field to ignore events that are trigged by flowNodes changes.
  • Fixed the unsupported or unrecognized SSL message error in fetching Prometheus metrics for container-based environment with SSL enabled.
IBM ACE Tracing
  • Added support for Linux on PowerPC 64-bit Little Endian.
  • Added support for AIX 7.3.
IBM Db2 LUW Sensor
  • Added support for addition of lock statistics and transaction metrics with delta values.
IBM MQ Sensor
  • Added support to show events per queue/channel/queue manager level through their own dashboard.
  • Added support to show Queue Depth events in the queue dashboard.
  • Reduced the payload size from IBM MQ sensor by removing mutex events and using GET mode when retrieving MQ events.
IBM MQ Tracing
  • Added support for Linux on PowerPC 64-bit Little Endian.
  • Added support for AIX 7.3.
  • Fixed the issue of missing span that is caused by the invisible message properties at the exit point Callback Before in some cases.
  •  Fixed an issue when retrieving the opened object name at the exit point Put Before in some cases.
Dubbo Tracing
  • Added the dubbo group attribute.
  • Changed the service name of dubbo tracing to the dubbo application name.
  • Changed the dubbo tracing endpoint to the interface name.

Other improvements –

Custom Dashboards
  • Custom Dashboards for Applications now support the per second aggregation.
  • When you configure custom dashboards for Applications, available formatters are selected based on selected metric and aggregation.
Custom Event to Application Smart Alert migration tool
  • The dialog shows additional information to simplify the DFQ to tag-filters conversion in case manual action is required. For more information about the migration tool, see Smart Alert migration docs.
Identity Providers
  • Fixed an edge case that users can insert empty configuration values for the Identity Provider on the Authentication settings of Instana UI.
Service Dashboards
  • Fixed a broken link to the Analytics wizard on the Top Statements list.
  • Fixed the problem that there are missing services and the call count is lower than expected in the Flow map.
